Some felt compelled to ask whether winning one stage of the Tour of Britain could really be described as a triumph. A petty objection, you may think; but how many people had ever heard of the guy, or had any idea which sport he even competes in? We surely deserved a bit more of a steer.
For the benefit of anyone who may be reading this from distant locations: Cheshire East is the local government area that includes Macclesfield. Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain was from Congleton to Tatton Park (near Knutsford) - both of which are also in Cheshire East.
